Production process
1. Log Selection: The journey to premium plywood begins with the careful selection of high-quality logs. Our choice includes top-grade woods such as poplar, birch, pine, and eucalyptus. Paramount to this selection are the wood's texture, grain, hardness, and moisture content-all ensuring they conform to our stringent production demands. For instance, poplar is favored for its lightness and superior processing qualities, ideal for standard plywood production. Meanwhile, birch, with its hard texture and elegant grain, is perfect for crafting high-end plywood.
2. Veneer Preparation: Once selected, the logs are meticulously cut into precise lengths and skillfully sliced into veneers using a rotary cutter. This process demands exact control of parameters like rotary speed and blade angle to achieve even thickness and a silky-smooth surface. For specialized plywood, we also employ a planing method, transforming wood blocks into finely-sliced chips.
3. Veneer Drying: Freshly cut veneers contain excess moisture, necessitating a thorough drying process. We offer two methods: natural drying, which is cost-effective but weather-dependent and time-intensive, and artificial drying, which uses steam or hot air to swiftly achieve optimal moisture levels of 8% to 12%, thus boosting production efficiency.
4. Gluing and Assembly: Post-drying, veneers enter the gluing phase, where we apply environmentally-friendly adhesives uniformly. The adhesive quality is vital for the plywood's bonding strength and eco-performance. Veneers are then assembled with perpendicular fiber layers to ensure a stable board structure, ready for high endurance use.
5. Hot Pressing Bonding: Assembled slabs undergo hot pressing, exposed to temperatures of 100ºC to 150ºC and pressures of 3-10MPa. The duration, determined by sheet thickness and adhesive characteristics, can range from minutes to tens of minutes. This process cures the adhesive, ensuring a robust bond between veneer layers.
6. Post-Processing: After hot pressing, plywood requires finishing touches like edge trimming and sanding. Edge trimming ensures dimensional precision by removing irregularities, while sanding smoothens surfaces, preparing them for decorative treatments like veneering and painting, enhancing both appearance and functionality.
