Production process
1. Log selection: Selecting superior logs is a cornerstone in crafting premium plywood. We frequently use wood types such as poplar, birch, pine, and eucalyptus. When choosing materials, we meticulously assess the wood's texture, grain, hardness, moisture content, and other indicators to satisfy production requisites. Poplar wood, for instance, is light, soft, and offers excellent workability, making it ideal for standard plywood production. Conversely, birch is hard with an exquisite grain, perfect for high-grade plywood creations, ensuring quality at every step.
2. Veneer preparation: Logs are precisely cut to suitable lengths and expertly sliced into veneers using a rotary cutter. During this, we meticulously control parameters such as rotary cutting speed and tool angle to guarantee uniform veneer thickness and a polished, smooth surface. For plywoods with specialized demands, the planing method is occasionally employed, transforming wood blocks into delicate, thin wood chips.
3. Veneer drying: Freshly rotary-cut veneers contain high moisture and thus require drying. We employ two methods: cost-effective natural drying, which is weather-dependent with a prolonged cycle, and artificial drying, utilizing steam or hot air. The latter swiftly manages veneer moisture content to an optimal 8%-12% range, thereby significantly boosting production efficiency.
4. Gluing and assembly: Post-drying, veneers undergo the gluing process, applying eco-friendly adhesives uniformly across the veneer surfaces. This adhesive quality is crucial for excellent bonding strength and environmental performance. Once glued, panels are assembled, ensuring adjacent layers' fiber directions are perpendicular, thus securing board structure stability.
5. Hot pressing Bonding: Assembled slabs are positioned in a hot press, subjected to precise heat (typically 100ºC - 150ºC) and pressure (3-10MPa). The hot pressing duration, influenced by sheet thickness and adhesive properties, generally varies from a few minutes to several tens of minutes. This process cures the adhesive, effectively bonding each veneer layer seamlessly.
6. Post-processing: Following hot-pressing, the plywood undergoes meticulous post-processing including edge trimming and sanding. Edge trimming eliminates uneven border sections, ensuring dimensional precision, while sanding refines the surface, promoting smoothness and flatness, readying it for decorative enhancements like veneering and painting.
