Production Process
1. Log Selection: Setting the foundation for exceptional plywood, the journey begins with the careful selection of high-quality logs. We often work with premium woods like poplar, birch, pine, and eucalyptus. Each type is chosen based on texture, grain, hardness, and moisture content, ensuring they meet our stringent production standards. Poplar is favored for its light and soft nature, offering excellent processing capabilities, perfect for standard plywood. Meanwhile, birch, known for its hardness and stunning grain, is ideal for crafting luxurious, high-end plywood.
2. Veneer Preparation: The transformation continues as selected logs are precision-cut into appropriate lengths, then expertly sliced into veneers using a rotary cutter. Mastery in controlling the rotary speed and tool angle is crucial for achieving veneers of uniform thickness and a smooth surface. For specialty plywood, the planing method is employed, slicing wood blocks into delicate, thin wood chips that elevate quality.
3. Veneer Drying: After rotary-cutting, veneers hold high moisture and require precise drying. Employing either natural or artificial methods, each has its perks. Natural drying, while cost-effective, is weather-dependent and slow. Artificial drying, using steam or hot air, is efficient, reducing moisture swiftly to an optimal 8% to 12%, boosting production efficiency.
4. Gluing and Assembly: Post-drying, veneers enter the gluing stage. We apply eco-friendly adhesives evenly, crucial for robust bonding and environmental safety. Panels are then assembled with precision, following perpendicular fiber direction rules to ensure the board's structural integrity and stability.
5. Hot Pressing Bonding: Assembled slabs undergo hot pressing in a dedicated press, bonding under specific temperatures (100ºC - 150ºC) and pressures (3-10MPa). The duration varies based on sheet thickness and adhesive characteristics, ranging from minutes to tens of minutes. This process solidifies the adhesive, uniting veneers into a single, steadfast layer.
6. Post-processing: Following hot-pressing, our plywood undergoes meticulous post-processing including edge trimming and sanding. Edge cutting ensures dimensional precision, while sanding renders a smoother, flawless surface, primed for decorative enhancements like veneering and painting.
