Production Process Overview
1. Meticulous Log Selection: To produce premium plywood, the selection of logs is paramount. Preferred wood types include poplar, birch, pine, and eucalyptus, each chosen for specific characteristics such as texture, grain, durability, and moisture content. For instance, the lightweight and easily processed nature of poplar makes it ideal for standard plywood, while birch, with its hard texture and stunning grain, is perfect for high-end products.
2. Precise Veneer Preparation: Logs are expertly cut to size and then transformed into veneers via a rotary cutter. Precision in controlling rotary speed and tool angle ensures a uniform veneer thickness and a flawless surface. For specialized plywood needs, planing techniques are employed, slicing wood into fine chips with utmost accuracy.
3. Efficient Veneer Drying: Freshly cut veneers contain high moisture levels, necessitating drying. This is achieved either naturally, albeit slowly and weather-dependently, or artificially through steam or hot air methods. Artificial drying optimally reduces moisture content to 8-12%, thus significantly boosting production efficiencies.
4. Expert Gluing and Assembly: Post-drying, veneers receive a coat of eco-friendly adhesives. Superior adhesive quality is vital for strong bonding and environmental integrity of the finished plywood. Panels are then assembled with perpendicular fiber layers, ensuring optimal structural stability.
5. Hot Pressing Bonding Expertise: Assembled slabs undergo hot pressing, melding veneers at temperatures of 100ºC-150ºC and pressures of 3-10MPa. The duration of this process, ranging from minutes to tens of minutes, depends on sheet thickness and adhesive properties. This step solidifies the adhesive bond, uniting the veneer layers seamlessly.
