Production process
1. Log selection: High-quality logs serve as the cornerstone for manufacturing superior plywood. We carefully choose from a variety of premium woods, including poplar, birch, pine, and eucalyptus, ensuring they meet rigorous production standards. Key selection criteria include texture, grain, hardness, and moisture content. Poplar, known for its lightweight and soft texture, boasts excellent processing qualities, making it ideal for standard plywood. 2. Veneer preparation: Once selected, the logs are expertly cut to optimal lengths and skillfully sliced into veneers via a high-precision rotary cutter. During this intricate process, the rotary speed and tool angle are meticulously managed to guarantee even thickness and a flawless veneer surface. For specialized plywood requirements, we also employ a planing method to craft thin wood chips from the logs.
3. Veneer drying: Post-rotary cutting, the veneers, rich in moisture, undergo a critical drying phase. We utilize both natural and artificial methods: while natural drying is cost-effective, it is susceptible to weather variations and demands a longer timeline. Conversely, artificial drying methods like steam and hot air drying swiftly regulate veneer moisture to an optimal 8%-12%, significantly boosting production efficiency.
4. Gluing and assembly: The dried veneers move to the gluing phase, where they are uniformly coated with eco-friendly adhesives, essential for superior bonding strength and environmental safety. The assembly follows a strategic pattern, aligning fiber directions perpendicularly across layers to bolster the structural stability of the plywood.
5. Hot pressing Bonding: The assembled slabs undergo a transformative hot pressing phase within a hot press, experiencing a fusion process under controlled temperatures (typically 100ºC - 150ºC) and pressures (3-10MPa). The duration of hot pressing is tailored to the sheet's thickness and adhesive characteristics, usually spanning several to tens of minutes. This process solidifies the adhesive, ensuring a robust bond across veneer layers.
6. Post-processing: Following hot pressing, the plywood undergoes meticulous post-processing, including edge trimming and sanding. This step perfects the edges, enhancing dimensional precision, while sanding smooths the surface, prepping it for decorative finishes like veneering and painting.
