Production Process Overview
1. Log Selection: Our production journey begins with the careful selection of only the highest quality logs, which serve as the foundation for our exceptional plywood boards. We meticulously choose from a diverse range of woods, including poplar, birch, pine, and eucalyptus. Each selection is made with a keen eye for the wood's texture, grain, hardness, and moisture content, ensuring we meet the most stringent production standards. Poplar, known for its light and soft texture, offers excellent processing properties, making it the preferred choice for standard plywood. In contrast, birch is celebrated for its hardness and beautiful grain, making it ideal for producing luxurious, high-end plywood.
2. Veneer Preparation: The art of veneer creation begins with precisely cutting the selected logs into optimal lengths, followed by expertly slicing them into veneers using an advanced rotary cutter. This process requires meticulous control over parameters such as rotary cutting speed and tool angle, ensuring each veneer has a consistent thickness and a pristine, smooth surface. For specialized plywood needs, we may also employ a planing method to craft the wood blocks into delicately thin wood chips, showcasing our dedication to versatility and excellence.
3. Veneer Drying: Freshly rotary-cut veneers, rich with moisture, are expertly dried using one of two methods: cost-effective natural drying, which is weather-dependent and has longer cycles, or efficient artificial drying. The latter uses techniques such as steam and hot air drying to precisely manage veneer moisture content within a range of 8% to 12%, significantly enhancing our production efficiency.
4. Gluing and Assembly: After drying, veneers are meticulously coated with eco-friendly adhesives. This uniform application is crucial for determining the plywood's bonding strength and its environmental profile. We employ a strategic assembly technique, ensuring that the fiber directions of adjacent layers are perpendicular, thereby bolstering the board's structural stability and enhancing its durability.
5. Hot Pressing Bonding: The assembled slabs undergo a transformative hot pressing bonding process within a hot press, subjected to temperatures between 100ºC - 150ºC and pressures ranging from 3-10MPa. The duration, tailored to sheet thickness and adhesive properties, typically spans from a few minutes to tens of minutes. This stage is critical as it cures the adhesive, creating a robust bond that firmly unites the veneer layers.
6. Post-Processing: Following hot pressing, our plywood undergoes meticulous post-processing, including precision edge trimming and surface sanding. Edge trimming ensures dimensional accuracy by eliminating any unevenness. Expert sanding results in a flawlessly smooth and flat surface, preparing it for decorative finishes such as veneering and painting.
