Production Process
1. Log Selection: The journey to creating top-tier plywood begins with the careful selection of high-quality logs. Our selection includes a variety of wood types such as poplar, birch, pine, and eucalyptus. Each is chosen based on crucial factors like texture, grain, hardness, and moisture content to meet strict production standards. Poplar, with its light and soft texture, is ideal for ordinary plywood due to its excellent processing attributes. Meanwhile, birch, noted for its hardness and stunning grain, is perfect for crafting high-end plywood.
2. Veneer Preparation: Once the logs are chosen, they are expertly cut to precise lengths and sliced into veneers using a high-caliber rotary cutter. Maintaining sharp control over parameters like rotary speed and tool angle is vital to achieve a uniformly thick and smooth veneer surface. For plywood requiring special qualities, we employ an advanced planing method to slice wood blocks into fine wood chips.
3. Veneer Drying: Freshly rotary-cut veneers possess a high moisture content, requiring a meticulously calculated drying process. We utilize both natural and artificial drying methods. Natural drying, while cost-effective, depends heavily on weather and is time-intensive. In contrast, artificial drying methods like steam and hot air drying swiftly bring moisture content to an optimal 8% to 12%, significantly boosting production efficiency.
4. Gluing and Assembly: Post-drying, veneers undergo a critical gluing process, where they are coated with eco-friendly adhesives. The adhesive's quality is pivotal for the plywood's bonding strength and environmental safety. After gluing, panels are assembled ensuring that the adjacent layers' fiber directions are perpendicular, thus guaranteeing the board's structural integrity and stability.
5. Hot Pressing Bonding: The assembled slabs are then subjected to hot pressing, a process performed at temperatures of 100ºC - 150ºC and pressures of 3-10MPa. The hot pressing duration is dictated by the sheet thickness and adhesive traits, typically lasting from several minutes to tens of minutes. This vital process ensures the adhesive cures thoroughly, solidly uniting each veneer layer.
6. Post-Processing: After the hot pressing phase, plywood requires further refining through post-processing steps such as edge trimming and sanding. Edge trimming eliminates irregularities, ensuring dimensional precision. Sanding achieves a smooth, even surface, setting the stage for decorative treatments like veneering and painting that enhance the plywood's aesthetic appeal.
