Production Process
1. Log Selection: The journey to crafting top-tier plywood begins with the meticulous selection of premium logs. Woods such as poplar, birch, pine, and eucalyptus serve as the cornerstone of our production line. Each variety is chosen with precision, taking into account the wood's unique texture, grain, hardness, and moisture levels, ensuring they meet our rigorous benchmarks. For instance, poplar is prized for its lightness and easy adaptability in processing, making it ideal for standard plywood. Meanwhile, birch, renowned for its hardness and exquisite grain, is reserved for our superior plywood offerings.
2. Veneer Preparation: The transformation from log to veneer begins by cutting the selected logs into manageable lengths. These are then expertly sliced into veneers using a rotary cutter. Precision is key as we control factors like rotary speed and tool angle to achieve consistent veneer thickness and a flawless surface. For plywood that demands special attributes, we employ planing techniques to sculpt wood blocks into delicate thin chips.
3. Veneer Drying: Freshly rotary-cut veneer carries high moisture content and requires drying to ensure quality. We offer both natural drying and artificial drying methods. Natural drying, although cost-effective, is subject to weather conditions and longer cycles. In contrast, artificial drying, utilizing steam and hot air, swiftly calibrates veneer moisture to an optimal 8%-12%, significantly boosting production efficiency.
4. Gluing and Assembly: Post-drying, veneers proceed to the gluing stage, where eco-friendly adhesives are meticulously applied. The adhesive's quality is paramount, influencing both the plywood's bonding strength and its environmental credentials. Once glued, veneers are assembled with fiber directions of adjacent layers perpendicular, bolstering the stability and integrity of the board's structure.
5. Hot Pressing Bonding: Assembled slabs undergo a transformative hot pressing bonding process. Subjected to controlled temperatures (100ºC - 150ºC) and pressure (3-10MPa), the slabs bond over minutes to tens of minutes, dictated by sheet thickness and adhesive traits. This process ensures the adhesive cures fully, binding veneers into a cohesive, robust unit.
6. Post-processing: Following hot-pressing, the plywood is perfected through post-processing steps like edge trimming and sanding. Edge trimming eliminates irregular edges, ensuring precision in dimensions. Sanding smooths the board's surface, preparing it for final decorative touches such as veneering and painting, ensuring a pristine finish.
