Production process
1. Log selection: At the heart of crafting premium-quality plywood lies the meticulous selection of high-grade logs. Our process embraces wood varieties such as poplar, birch, pine, and eucalyptus. Each choice is guided by consideration of texture, grain, hardness, and moisture content to align with stringent production standards. Poplar wood, with its lightweight and soft texture, boasts excellent processing capabilities, making it ideal for common plywood. In contrast, birch wood, celebrated for its hardness and exquisite grain, is perfect for crafting luxurious, high-end plywood.
2. Veneer preparation: The logs, chosen with precision, are expertly cut into suitable lengths. Employing a rotary cutter, they are sliced into veneers where parameters like cutting speed and tool angle are meticulously regulated. This ensures an even thickness and a flawlessly smooth veneer surface. For plywood demanding special attributes, the planing method is also utilized, transforming wood blocks into delicate, ultra-thin wood chips.
3. Veneer drying: Freshly rotary-cut veneers possess elevated moisture levels, necessitating expert drying treatment. Two methods are available: natural drying, which is cost-effective but weather-dependent with extended cycles, and artificial drying. The latter, through steam or hot air, swiftly stabilizes veneer moisture content to an optimal 8% to 12%, significantly boosting production efficiency.
4. Gluing and assembly: Post-drying, veneers proceed to the sophisticated gluing stage, where eco-friendly adhesives are meticulously applied. The adhesive's quality is paramount, influencing both bonding strength and environmental safety of the plywood. The assembly process follows a meticulous rule, ensuring the fiber directions of adjacent layers are perpendicular, thereby guaranteeing robust structural stability.
5. Hot pressing Bonding: Assembled slabs undergo hot pressing bonding within a controlled environment of temperatures from 100ºC to 150ºC and pressures of 3-10MPa. Hot pressing durations vary, influenced by sheet thickness and adhesive properties, ranging from minutes to tens of minutes. This crucial process effectively cures the adhesive, ensuring each veneer layer is securely bonded.
6. Post-processing: Following hot-pressing, the plywood is refined through post-processing stages like edge trimming and sanding. Edge trimming eradicates uneven edges, ensuring precise dimensions, while sanding smoothens the board surface, preparing it for decorative enhancements such as veneering or painting.
