2. Veneer preparation: The journey from log to veneer involves cutting logs into specific lengths before transforming them into veneers through precise rotary cutting. For plywood with special preferences, an alternative planing technique is adopted, slicing logs into fine wood chips.
3. Veneer drying: Freshly cut veneers brim with moisture, necessitating a comprehensive drying process. Options include cost-effective natural drying, albeit weather-dependent with extended cycles, and industrial artificial drying, which employs steam and hot air to swiftly regulate veneer moisture within an optimal 8%-12%, significantly boosting production efficiency.
4. Gluing and assembly: Post-drying, veneers undergo a meticulous gluing process where eco-friendly adhesives are uniformly applied. The adhesive's quality is pivotal to the plywood's bonding strength and environmental integrity. Once glued, veneers are assembled with fibers perpendicular to adjacent layers, fortifying the board's structural stability.
5. Hot pressing Bonding: Assembled slabs are introduced to a hot press, where they undergo bonding at precise temperatures (100ºC - 150ºC) and pressures (3-10MPa). The duration, influenced by sheet thickness and adhesive traits, spans from minutes to tens of minutes. This process is key in solidifying the adhesive, achieving robust veneer cohesion.
6. Post-processing: Following hot-pressing, plywood is refined through edge trimming and sanding. Trimming eradicates edge irregularities, ensuring dimensional precision, while sanding delivers a smooth, flat surface, primed for further decorative processes like veneering and painting.
