Production process
1. Log selection: As the bedrock of premier plywood production, selecting high-quality logs is paramount. Our choices often encompass poplar, birch, pine, and eucalyptus, each offering unique benefits. For instance, poplar's lightness and softness yield excellent processing capabilities, making it ideal for standard plywood. Meanwhile, birch, with its hard texture and stunning grain, is perfect for crafting luxury plywood. Key factors like texture, grain, hardness, and moisture content are meticulously evaluated to meet the rigorous standards of production.
2. Veneer preparation: Once the finest logs are chosen, they are precisely cut into lengths and expertly sliced into veneers using a rotary cutter. This process demands exact control over variables such as speed and tool angle to guarantee a consistently uniform thickness and a flawlessly smooth veneer surface. For specialized plywood, we may employ a planing technique to transform wood blocks into delicate wood chips.
3. Veneer drying: Freshly rotary-cut veneers possess high moisture levels and require careful drying. This can be achieved via natural or artificial methods. Natural drying, though cost-effective, is weather-dependent and lengthy, whereas artificial drying-utilizing steam or hot air-swiftly regulates moisture within the optimal 8% to 12% range, significantly boosting production efficiency.
4. Gluing and assembly: Post-drying, the veneer surfaces are uniformly coated with environmentally friendly adhesives, crucial for the plywood's adhesion strength and eco-performance. Aligning veneers perpendicularly ensures a stable board structure, crucial for ultimate product durability.
5. Hot pressing Bonding: Assembled slabs transition to a hot press where they're bonded under specific heat (100ºC - 150ºC) and pressure (3-10MPa). This finely-tuned process, defined by sheet thickness and adhesive properties, spans several to tens of minutes, effectively curing adhesives and securing veneer layers.
6. Post-processing: Post hot-pressing, plywood undergoes meticulous refinements like edge trimming and sanding. Trimming removes imperfections, ensuring precision, while sanding smooths the surface for enhanced decorative applications, including veneering and painting. This stage elevates plywood to meet the highest aesthetic and functional demands.
