Production Process Overview
1. Log Selection: To craft our Exceptional Strength Multilayer Plywood Board, we begin with the meticulous selection of high-quality logs, which serve as the cornerstone of premium plywood production. We commonly utilize wood types such as poplar, birch, pine, and eucalyptus. Each selection is made with a keen eye for texture, grain, hardness, and moisture content to ensure the logs meet our stringent production standards. For instance, poplar is known for its light, soft texture and excellent workability, making it ideal for standard plywood. Conversely, birch, with its robust nature and exquisite grain, is perfect for high-end plywood applications.
2. Veneer Preparation: The carefully chosen logs are precisely cut to length and transformed into veneers through a precision rotary cutting process. During this stage, parameters like rotary cutting speed and tool angle are meticulously controlled to guarantee a uniform thickness and a flawlessly smooth veneer surface. For plywood requiring exceptional characteristics, we employ a planing method that slices wood blocks into ultra-thin chips.
3. Veneer Drying: Freshly rotary-cut veneers retain high moisture levels and necessitate drying. We employ either natural or artificial drying methods. While natural drying is cost-effective, it is weather dependent and time-consuming. Artificial drying, including steam or hot air drying, efficiently reduces veneer moisture content to an optimal 8% to 12%, significantly enhancing production efficiency.
4. Gluing and Assembly: Post-drying, veneers undergo a gluing process where eco-friendly adhesives are meticulously applied. The adhesive's quality is pivotal, impacting both bonding strength and the plywood's environmental footprint. Panels are assembled ensuring adjacent layers' fiber directions are perpendicular, ensuring the board's structural integrity.
5. Hot Pressing Bonding: Assembled slabs are subjected to hot pressing bonding in a high-tech hot press, operated at temperatures between 100ºC to 150ºC and pressures of 3-10MPa. The duration of hot pressing is tailored based on sheet thickness and adhesive properties, ranging from a few to several minutes. This process activates the adhesive, securely binding each veneer layer.
6. Post-Processing: Following hot-pressing, the plywood undergoes meticulous post-processing, including edge trimming and sanding. Edge trimming eradicates irregularities, ensuring dimensional precision, while sanding polishes the surface to a flawless finish, readying it for decorative enhancements like veneering or painting.
