Production process
1. Log selection: Selecting premium logs forms the cornerstone of superior plywood production. We frequently employ top-tier wood types such as poplar, birch, pine, and eucalyptus. During selection, meticulous attention is devoted to wood texture, grain, hardness, moisture content, and other vital parameters to ensure they align with our rigorous production standards. For example, poplar wood is known for its lightweight and soft texture coupled with excellent processing characteristics, making it ideal for producing standard plywood. Conversely, birch wood is celebrated for its robust nature and exquisite grain patterns, rendering it perfect for high-end plywood manufacturing.
2. Veneer preparation: The carefully selected logs are cut into specific lengths and meticulously sliced into veneers using a rotary cutter. Throughout the rotary cutting stage, parameters such as cutting speed and tool angle are precisely controlled to guarantee uniform veneer thickness and a flawlessly smooth surface. For plywood with unique specifications, we also employ the planing method, skillfully slicing wood blocks into thin chips, ensuring the utmost precision and quality.
3. Veneer drying: Following the rotary-cutting process, veneers may exhibit elevated moisture levels and thus undergo essential drying treatment. We utilize two drying methods: cost-effective natural drying and efficient artificial drying. While natural drying is economical, it is significantly influenced by weather conditions, extending the drying cycle. In contrast, artificial drying-employing steam and hot air techniques-swiftly adjusts moisture content to an optimal 8% to 12%, greatly enhancing production efficiency.
4. Gluing and assembly: Post-drying, veneers progress to the gluing stage, where an even application of eco-friendly adhesives is critical for ensuring robust bonding strength and superior environmental performance. Once the glue is applied, veneers are assembled meticulously, adhering to the rule of perpendicular fiber direction alignment between adjacent layers, thus guaranteeing board structure stability and longevity.
5. Hot pressing Bonding: Once slabs are assembled, they undergo hot pressing bonding in a press, subjected to controlled temperature (typically 100ºC - 150ºC) and pressure (3-10MPa). The hot pressing duration, dictated by sheet thickness and adhesive properties, spans several to tens of minutes. This process ensures thorough adhesive curing, securely unifying each veneer layer into a resilient structure.
6. Post-processing: The journey continues with essential post-processing treatments, following hot pressing. This includes precision edge trimming to remove any irregularities, ensuring dimensional accuracy. Subsequent sanding refines the board surface, making it impeccably smooth and flat, perfectly prepared for ensuing decorative applications such as veneering and painting, enhancing esthetic appeal and usability.
