Production Process
1. Log Selection: The cornerstone of high-quality plywood production lies in the careful selection of superior logs. Our choice of woods includes poplar, birch, pine, eucalyptus, and more. Paramount considerations include the wood's texture, grain pattern, hardness, and moisture content, ensuring they align with rigorous production standards. Poplar is favored for its light and soft texture with excellent processing capabilities, ideal for standard plywood. Meanwhile, birch, with its hard texture and stunning grain, is the preferred choice for premium-grade plywood.
2. Veneer Preparation: Once the logs are selected, they are meticulously cut to suitable lengths before being expertly sliced into veneers via a rotary cutter. Precision is paramount during this process, with the rotary cutting speed and tool angle finely tuned to secure uniform thickness and a flawlessly smooth veneer surface. For plywood with specialized needs, we also employ a planing method to slice wood blocks into finely crafted thin wood chips.
3. Veneer Drying: Freshly rotary-cut veneers contain high moisture levels, necessitating effective drying methods. Opt between natural drying, which is cost-effective but weather-dependent with prolonged cycles, and artificial drying. The latter utilizes advanced techniques like steam or hot air drying to swiftly adjust moisture content to an optimal range of 8% to 12%, significantly boosting production efficiency.
4. Gluing and Assembly: Dried veneers progress to the gluing stage, where eco-friendly adhesives are meticulously applied. The adhesive quality is critical, impacting the plywood's bonding strength and environmental integrity. During assembly, veneers are layered with fiber directions of adjacent layers perpendicular to each other, assuring unmatched board structure stability.
5. Hot Pressing Bonding: Assembled slabs undergo hot pressing, meticulously bonded under specific temperatures (100ºC - 150ºC) and pressures (3-10MPa). The duration, contingent on sheet thickness and adhesive properties, varies from a few minutes to tens of minutes. This process solidifies the adhesive, seamlessly fusing each veneer layer into a cohesive, high-grade plywood.
6. Post-Processing: Post-hot pressing, plywood enters the final refinement phase, undergoing edge trimming and sanding. Edge trimming ensures precise dimensions by removing irregular edges. Subsequent sanding smoothens the surface, priming it for elegant decorative treatments like veneering and painting, ready for its next transformation.
Poplar Plywood: Detailed Uses
Furniture Manufacturing: Renowned for its robust texture and captivating grain, birch plywood is a staple in crafting high-end furniture. Integral to solid wood furniture frames, it guarantees structural stability, resisting deformation over time. Birch plywood adorns wardrobe and cabinet doors, and once finely sanded and painted, exudes a sophisticated and elegant allure. In European and American-styled furniture, it enhances artistic value through intricate carving, inlaying, and decorative craftsmanship.
Musical Instrument Making: Celebrated for its superior acoustic properties, birch plywood is indispensable in musical instrument production. It enriches the sound quality of guitars and violins, delivering clarity and richness. In pianos, birch plywood constructs side panels and key supports, ensuring lasting stability and durability, thus upholding the instrument's excellence.
Sports Goods Production: In crafting table tennis rackets, birch plywood excels as a preferred base material. Its balanced elasticity and hardness offer optimal hitting sensation and ball control. For snowboards, the core is crafted from birch plywood, providing the strength and resilience needed to excel in diverse skiing conditions and dynamic movements.
